Interview With Temple Spa Manager, Devon

Our Chat with Hayley from Temple Spa.

Hello! Pro-Story Photography was born out of a passion for photography shared by two friends – Laura and Gareth. We are Based in Plymouth, Devon and enjoy all the work we do and adore being a part of couples’ special days and capturing those enchanting memories in our elegant photos.

Pro-story understands how much preparation is put into creating your perfect wedding. We have recently been fortunate to have spoken with Temple Spa manager Hayley Gilbert about preparing for your big day. Here, we have written about our conversation and the topics we have discussed.

Get to know her

The first question we asked her was how long had she been working with Health and Beauty, to which she replied with: nearly 15 years. Like our story, I’m so happy to hear about people working with their long term hobbies and interests.

What she loves the most about working in the Beauty profession is the reaction she gets from people; she feels this to be extremely rewarding to help people feel relaxed. We agree that your confidence grows with feeling good about yourself.

Laura has Ideas for self-care on your big day, like sitting down and relaxing as this really helps to decrease stress levels, “I experienced a great massage from Hayley at a party for my friend’s graduation. The experience was calming to lay down with soft music in the background.” Other self-care treatments could include having a facial, manicure or having a luxury soak. A full day coverage can take over 10 hours on your wedding day but we believe this is important for self-care.

Next Hayley tells us about her children; “My children inspire me to be strong and that everything I do is for them.” Inspiration can come in lots of different ways. We feel motivated by how she manages work and home life balance; Hayley is great at marketing and getting booked for parties.

Cooperation creates a positive environment where you can achieve great things by working together. Good teamwork is like friendship. Hayley too loves working as part of a team. She says it’s great to have fun and ‘bounce off each other’.

Make-up

Having asked her how she feels about exploring new make-up products and styles, She says; “I love exploring new styles in make-up and trialling new ideas.”

When preparing for your wedding day, it would be fantastic to try out a new make-up style and different beauty products beforehand to discover new ideas and unique styles that will be perfect for your wedding day, and feel at ease as your make-up artist can help you find your perfect look.

If you are starting out with using make-up and skincare products, Hayley recommends you try a daily skincare routine. Use a mix of cleansing tone moisturiser and make-up that will enhance your natural features.

Hayley commented on what skincare products and treatments are best to use for your wedding day. She found a popular choice is to use a face moisturiser as a base, (we think that ‘Be Still’ for Sensitive Skin is a great choice) and then add highlighter, concealer and setting spray. What else was mentioned was that the most popular treatments were massages, facials and pedicures.

Before wedding day

When preparing for a wedding, Hayley gives examples of styles, skincare routines and products samples to match your skin and check for allergies. She also demonstrates them by using product displays and images. What a great aid to have to see different styles when you are looking for ideas for your wedding day.

Hayley believes that weddings are all about prep. She tells us that the thing she loves the most about her wedding preparation sessions is getting skincare treatments on point and looking beautiful, as well as having this time for customers to relax and unwind before their big day. She also loves using natural make-up that lasts long throughout the whole day such as toning essence as well as a bright and beautiful highlighter. 

Wedding Memories

Wedding ceremonies are filled with joy and create beautiful memories. With so much celebration throughout the day, Hayley’s favourite moment is when the bride and groom look into each other’s eyes to say their vows. This is such a beautiful moment that makes such a powerful connection between the special couple. At Pro-Story Photography, we absolutely love capturing these moments in stunning photos!

The second to last question we asked Hayley was what was the funniest story she could tell when she attended a wedding. She says, “The funkiest style wedding I attended was when the bridal party all wore wellies and went into a river for photos.” Wow, that must have been a super fun day! It’s great to enjoy yourself sometimes without worrying about the mess. And; “The funniest story is beer pong and people falling over hay bales.” I can imagine! As long as there was a lot of open space and they didn’t all fall on top of each other!

And lastly, what do you think will be trending for Weddings in 2022? Hayley predicts that doughnuts and flower walls will be quite popular throughout 2022. They would make an amazing (and tasty) backdrop for photos and are perfect for the dessert table!

Summary and our recomendations

When preparing for your wedding day, skincare and make-up is likely a big thing on your mind. It is an important factor to consider for your wedding day because treatments and beauty products help to keep your skin healthy. And using skincare products make such a difference on your big day. They can make you feel spectacular, having smooth, lavish skin. As well, products also make your skin shine and glow which is noticeable in your photos. You can always look back at them and see how much fun you had.

As a summary, we would recommend trying and trialling different products, styles and treatments to find what you love and what will be perfect for your wedding day. You may want to speak with your make-up artist or beauty consultant when considering different skincare products and available treatments, as they can advise on products that can help you discover your perfect match.
